Impact of Pilot Injection on Combustion and Emission Characteristics of a Low-Speed Two-Stroke Marine Diesel Engine

چکیده

Low-speed two-stroke marine diesel engines dominate the modern global long-distance transportation market; with increasingly stringent regulations, combustion and emissions of these is gaining intense interest. The primary objective present study was to understand effects air-fuel mixing by pilot injection strategy on emission characteristics through a numerical study. Specifically, computational fluid dynamic (CFD) model established validated experimental data for typical low-speed engine. parameters under different stages were analyzed, including mean in-cylinder temperature pressure, indicated thermal efficiency (ITE), specific fuel consumption (ISFC), distribution fuel-air mixture. Results that, due premixing effect, produced unburned soot from main injection’s ignition as well decrease intervals between middle final combustion, thus raising temperature. interaction reduction particles resulted increased temperature, stage led lower overall boundary heat loss, which improved effective efficiency. timing quality, respectively, showed quadratic linear impact modes engine performance emissions.
